At about 2 weeks of age pups begin swimming. they are also significantly larger than they were as newborns. Some in our study have gained 140 pounds in 25 days.

We lure new mom's up on a specially designed weigh sled to aquire an actual mass measurement. This allows us to test the error associated with the mass estimations from the photogrammetry technique.
